Company was having increased issues with turnover, especially in the branches. I interviewed a few Managers and kept hearing that the branch staff didn't know how to assess how engaged their staff members were, or what to do with that information. I was asked to design a Manager-level class on Employee Engagement. The class was 4 hours, and covered statistics and costs associated with turnover, why employees leave, the different stages of engagement/disengagement, and some actions to take, including how to conduct a Stay Interview. Feedback from the course was very positive, however, then attendees (branch staff, Supervisors and Managers) mostly said they already were conducting Stay Interviews and the course was mostly a review.

Lesson's learned - Either the branch staff was NOT already doing Stay Interviews, or not doing them well, OR the information I received from the Management staff was not the correct symptom of the turnover problem. I would recommend pulling HR turnover data, uncover any trends, and speak directly to the branch staff, in addition to the Management team as requested.
